I had to go to Tianjin for work for five days. The Nikko had an excellent rate - about US$80 per night - and looked pretty good. The location is excellent. It's on top of a shopping mall which has a huge choice of take-away and eat-in restaurants as well as a convenience store. It's also on top of a metro station that links directly to Tianjin railway station. Immediately to the South is the area around Yingkou Dao, with quiet, narrow streets with colonial architecture and nice restaurants, and immediately to the North and West are Xikai Cathedral and the pedestrianised Binjiang Dao shopping area There's a mini-lobby on the ground floor, but the main lobby and reception are on the 7th floor. Check-in was quick and easy, and staff were friendly and helpful. The room was immaculately clean: I'm writing this in a fairly dirty hotel in Beijing and wishing I was back in the Nikko. There was also a great bathroom: the shower and bath were in a large wet room that was separate from the rest of the bathroom, so you had all the space and luxury of a wet room with none of the drawbacks that can entail (wet toilet seats and wet toilet paper). The bed was extremely comfortable, and there was lots of space in the room. Decor was tasteful but not gloomy. The TV was quite old and quite small, and while it had an HDMI socket, it took some coaxing to get my computer to link with it. I did manage eventually. The TV could do with being replaced. That's really the only fault I could find with the place, though. I left my headphones in my room when I packed in a hurry to get to Beijing. As soon as I realised, I called the hotel, and a very helpful member of staff arranged to have them sent by courier overnight to my hotel in Beijing. This is a good sign of the excellent service. I'll certainly choose the Nikko next time I'm in Tianjin.

“Very good, centre of town”

Hotel is in a great location. It can be a little bit tricky finding the hotel from the ground as the other side of the building is a shopping mall. The hotel reception is on the 7th floor(they do have a entrance at the ground floor with taxis etc). Room was really nice and big, lovely comfortable b… Plus

Hotel is in a great location. It can be a little bit tricky finding the hotel from the ground as the other side of the building is a shopping mall. The hotel reception is on the 7th floor(they do have a entrance at the ground floor with taxis etc). Room was really nice and big, lovely comfortable bed, bathroom had a nice big wet room was very good. Hotel is able to give you day passes to powerhouse gym which is on the 6th floor - gym is very good. Breakfast was great with lots of choices. Now the only negative point i have is that my room over looked the tops of the shoppping centre which had large fans which during the day made a whirling noise (these were turned off in the evening but if you were in your room in the day it sometimes got abit annoying - might just be me as it seems no one else has mentioned this - dont let it put u off the hotel though).

“Very good location ”

Just 3 minutes from subway station, Yingkoudao, the location of this hotel is outstanding. I just started for a night for business. But if I come agin, I can return to this hotel. Shopping street is within a walking distance.

“Fantastic bargain hotel”

Fantastic older hotel that needs remodeling but for the price it's the best bargain in town! Large rooms and bathrooms, huge, comfy western beds, & Japanese style toilets. I'd definitely stay here again.
