Last time I went down to Baja Cali I stayed at Baja Mar resort so I took a chance in booking at Hotel Las Dunas being that it has very few reviews on the internet and doesn't appear to be well known. I must say I was rather pleased. For starters it is away from all of the hustle and bustle yet only a 5 minute taxi ride (If that) to all of the shopping and clubs. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar that has decent food but of course better deals are to be had downtown. It is near a residential area and it appears the locals there like the bar at the hotel. So if you like your peace and quiet on the weekend I recommend you ask for a room situated away from the bar (All of the suites are far enough away from the bar). On alot of the booking sites they don't advertise the hotel as having a pool but they do have both a pool and spa. The spa is small but large enough for a couple to enjoy their time in there. The rooms on the second floor have a balcony that has a small table and some chairs so i'd recommend getting a room on the second floor. THE WATER IS HOT. The shower takes a bit of time to get hot water but once it gets there it is hot enough and you don't get spurts of cold water. -Bring your own towels. Their towels are a bit small in size so I'd just recommend you bring your own. -The shower has a small bar of soap and no shampoo but you should pretty much know to bring your own stuff in Mexico unless you are at a resort. -Bring DVD's. If your room doesn't have a DVD player in it already just ask the front desk for one. They're free of charge and the A/V cables are free as well. They have DVD's to rent for three dollars. -The rooms have box heaters in them that emit more than enough heat. -The hotel also has high-speed internet available in the lobby for two dollars an hour. If you bring a laptop you can just connect from your room for free. If you have any questions ask the front desk as they are EXTREMELY helpful. Upon check-in the night clerk let us know some of the good hot-spots and also gave us a business card for the hotel. If you have any problems in town make sure to call them or have someone call them and they will resolve your issues. Also I'd recommend flagging down a cab as the hotel is not easy to find. Just pay a taxi a couple of dollars to show you the way. Just make sure to take the coastal road once you get past the toll roads and get into Ensenada You need to make a left off of that road to get to the hotel and the road is pretty well hidden. If I remember correctly most of the booking agencies have the street name posted incorrectly as well. The street is situated one block before the PemEx and AM/PM. The entrance tto the street has a seafood stand right on the corner and a karaoke bar right across the street. The seafood stand has a big dirt lot next to it. Once you turn left there you go up the hill and straight through the stop sign. The hotel will be on your left hand side. It is also situated right next to the hospital. You can try your luck with finding it but for a first timer i'd recommend just flagging a cab.

The hotel check in process was very friendly. We were showed the room before we checked in. We had just driven 6 hours and we were tired and just wanted a place to lay our heads. The hotel check in process was very friendly. We were showed the room before we checked in. We had just driven 6 hours and we were tired and just wanted a place to lay our heads. The suite could had been better had they just cleaned it a little better. The door had something splattered on it, I don't know what it was but my imagination was running away as what it could had been. Two huge cockroaches. the sofas in the living room were full of dust, we didn't sit on them. It was very hot and we could not sleep comfortable, no a/c no breeze coming in from the windows. If I were to stay here again i would bring my own cleaning supplies before I used it and I would bring my own couch covers so I could sit on the couches, id bring my own sheets and pillows. We left the next morning and asked for our money back on the two nights we prepaid for and we got it no problem! This hotel just needs a better cleaning service and i would stay again. We checked in for 3 days only stayed for one. Them letting me go with my money back is a plus. Very nice people working there, close to everything, but please do a better job cleaning the rooms. The price is right!
